Uzma Aziz Irfan is the Executive Director of Malton Women Council. For the last one decade, she is well known in the community for her passion in bringing the community together. She is TESL Ontario certified teacher. Also, she has worked in capacities of Settlement Counsellor, Community Engagement Co-ordinator, and Community Development Co-Ordinator for Malton Community Building Project. Her volunteer work encompasses a wide variety of fields which helped to broaden her vision. She is member of several advisory committees and board including Professional Advisory Committee of Sheridan College, TRIEC Mentorship Partnership, and Rotary Club Mississauga-Malton.
Summing up Uzma’s work in words is like capturing an ocean in a bowl. She is a community developer by heart, she is there for anyone and everyone. Whether its about finding ways to empower a woman or means to support a family in need; or addressing a community crisis, or ways to engage youth, mobilize volunteers or bring community together. She is a mother, leader, fighter, artist, inspiration, and a role model for many. Her selfless service to the community made her one of the top 75 Canadian Immigrants in the year 2021.
Lubna Rehman is a passionate volunteer who has been serving the community for more than a decade. Lubna holds a bachelor’s degree in Arts and has been serving on MWC’s Board since 2020. She believes that every woman must go out of her comfort zone and be a part of a healthy community. She is a Ravine Champion with Park People and motivates her peers to adopt a healthy lifestyle. She eagerly volunteers with her local community health center and food bank. She is a bridge between newcomers and Canadian culture, as she continues to connect several newcomers to the community resources and helps them settle in Canada.
Mehwish is one of our founding members and a dedicated supporter of MWC since 2009. A committed mother of three, she works as a Human Resources Coordinator at an employment company. With her positive and warm personality, Mehwish has contributed to MWC in so many amazing ways. Through her journey of self-actualization, Mehwish has not only empowered herself and her family, but has also become an inspiration for so many women around her.
A gold medalist from Punjab University (Pakistan), Tehmina has always been actively involved in various social and community-based activities and projects. A mother of 2, Tehmina is currently employed as a Senior Financial Advisor. She leverages her financial knowledge and expertise to provide guidance to Malton Women Council in her role as our Board Treasurer. Tehmina is passionate about interior designing and uses her creative pursuits for home staging projects.
Vidhya is a people person, who loves helping others and spreading smiles. She holds a Master’s of Science degree and has worked extensively in the field of Auditing, Training, Operations, and Quality control. She has worked for the University of Toronto, Scotia iTrade, and Harper Collins Publications and currently working for a US-based Organization as an Operations Team Lead. Vidhya is passionate about community work and has been volunteering with various organizations. Due to some difficult situations in her life, she recognized the need to help others who might be suffering alone in silence and started working actively for the community. She is working on various Community Wellness Projects as a Facilitator, Outreach Coordinator, and Peer Leader for Seniors. Vidhya wants to bring happiness, positivity, and hope to everyone’s life. Helping and inspiring people gives her true soul satisfaction.
Osheen has been a dedicated Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with more than 4 years of valuable nursing experience, at Trillium Health Partners and Brampton Civic Hospital, where she has consistently provided exceptional care. Her expertise extends to diverse healthcare settings, such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, and non-profit community organizations and has experience in the field of acute medicine, mental health and addictions. Osheen is also skilled in working with older adults and seniors, understanding their unique needs and challenges. She is also known for her skills in facilitating group programs, fostering a sense of community and well-being. Working for MWC, Osheen has demonstrated her dedication to the organization's mission. Alongside her thriving career, she is currently pursuing higher education at McMaster University, demonstrating her commitment to personal and professional growth.
Malton Women Council’s Board of Directors is composed of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 7 members. Board members can serve for two consecutive terms. Each term is three years in length.
Our board of directors meet regularly during the year. Their role is to solidify and implement strategic plans for the organization and to help support financial growth and overall well-being of the organization. They are also responsible for creating and leading sub-committees, bringing in new volunteers, sponsors and funding partners for Malton Women Council.
